My name is Patricia Daniel. I have been collecting antiques
since the summer I turned 13. I spent that summer antiquing with my grandmother
and her sisters, all antique dealers, and I was hooked. By the time I was in
high school I was telling everyone that I wanted to run my own antique shop for
a living. Alas, fate intervened and I got married, raised a family, went back to
college and got bachelor’s and masters of science degrees in geology and taught
for a while. But I never quit loving, collecting, and studying antiques. I used
to find Chatham Potters stoneware at estate sales in Wichita, KS and loved it,
not even knowing it was made right there in Kansas. A few years later my husband
was transferred to Independence, KS, which is very close to Oswego and I began
to find Chatham stoneware at garage sales. Wow! So I started studying and
learned the company had been in Oswego, Kansas from 1976 until 1984 when they
closed the doors.
Whenever I start thinking that I’ve collected at least one of everything Chatham
Potters ever made, I find something different.
